I’ve managed to go a month without updating this thing so here’s some of what I’ve been listening to over April:
One of the many highlights on Lil B’s 34 song mixtape God’s Father.
Taken from the excellent Voyages EP available on bandcamp.
It’s not exactly brand spanking new, but when my iTunes shuffled onto Tanlines’ tune ‘Brothers’ just now it was the first time I properly listened to it. Amazing how they can use such a massive baseline to create such a beautifully mellow track. A nice contrast from their 2010 dancefloor anthem Real Life. Brothers will feature on their debut album ‘Mixed Emotions’ due for release in March.
Not together, although that would be awesome. But both soulful singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka and wonderfully obscure hip-hop duo Shabazz Palaces are coming to Cork.
Kiwanuka plays Cyprus Avenue on February 12
Shabazz Palaces will play the Pavillion on May 19th.
More haunting brilliance from Cork based REID who is climbing up the ranks of Ireland’s burgeoning solo electronic scene.
Best thing I’ve heard so far in 2012.
