Video: Cap Pas Cap – Friends

The second video from Cap Pas Cap whose debut album Haunted Light is being released November 13th on Skinny Wolves. This is one Irish act I can’t wait to hear more of.

Video: Local Natives: Who Knows Who Cares

‘Who Knows Who Cares’ is the latest single off Local Native’s impossible-to-hate 2009 album Gorilla Manor. The lazy summer afternoon vibe of the track is perfectly captured in the video which see’s the LA hipsters road trip, picnic and party in the sun with friends…just what you want to see when you’re enjoying the November rain in the west of Ireland.

Video: The National – Terrible Love (Alternate Version)

While the video to the original single, take from High Violet, one of the stand out albums of 2010, ticked all the boxes for such a powerful tune from such a stylish band, director Tom Berninger has captured a different side to The National in the video for the alternate version. They’re not just about sharp suits and brilliant songs, they like to act the maggot too.

Video: Jennifer Evans – Scattered

I had completely forgotten about the return of Under Ether, RTE’s alternative music show which airs on Wednesday nights. The second season of the show (previously named When Under Ether) is just two episodes old and thanks to the wonders of RTE player I caught last week’s episode which featured this beautiful tune by Jennifer Evans, a Dublin based singer I was previously unfamiliar with. It’s a real lazy evening song with slow guitar tapping over soft snare brushing and Evans’ soothing vocals at the helm. It further emphasises the wealth of musical talent currently gracing our little island.

Video: Biffy Clyro – Booooom Blast and Ruin

The rot continues. The latest video from the Scottish boys confirms the good old days are gone. Gone are the hard-hitting, unpredictable, original tunes that decorated Infinity Land, Vertigo of Bliss and Blackened Sky. This latest video, for yet another forgettable pop song, serves as a reminder that these lads are superstars now, it’s a celebration of tattoos, sell out gigs, main stage festival slots. We’re all very impressed Biffy, why bother crafting a masterpiece like Now the Action is on Fire, when this shit will make you rich and famous?

Video: Foals – Blue Blood

Blue Blood is the latest single to be taken from the magnificent 2010 album Total Life Forever. Chris Sweeney’s video pits a shy looking school kid in a hall singing the tune to a bemused audience, what it lacks it originality (lets face it impressive miming by someone miles apart from the singer in appearance has been done to death) it makes up for in engaging execution.

Video: Magnetic Man ft. Katy B – Perfect Stranger

Follow up single to ‘I need air’ from dubstep’s answer to a supergroup Magnetic Man. Just like the first single, it seems to loiter in between dubstep, drum and bass and even at times trance but the result is a banging tune, featuring Katy B, the rising queen of debstep.

Video: Animal Collective – Bluish

A characteristically bizarre video for my personal favourite track off the colossal 2009 album Merriweather Post Pavillion released on Domino Records. Unsurprisingly the images are all slightly bluish. Now we just need to settle the debate on weather or not the song is about oral sex.
